DESIGN/ARTWORK
I have produced my own artwork, how should I send my files for printing?
We run both Mac and PC based systems. The preferred format for files is PDF. This is a universal file format and tends to prevent any problems with compatability. We can normally get a correct print out from a PDF. We can though accept files in many formats including illustrator, photoshop, quark, freehand, indesign (up to CS). Please contact us to discuss if you are unsure.
For colour printing please supply files at a resolution of 300dpi. GIF, BMP and images taken from websites are not recommended, as the resolution is usually poor and not suitable for print.
I have a PC at home/in the office, can I just do my own design work on word or publisher and you can print from that?
Don’t spend too long setting up your artwork in word or publisher as we will have to then reset the artwork in a press ready format. You may send us text as a word doc and then any imagery/logos you want to include as separate documents and we will put together the artwork for you. Ask us about costs in relation to this.
I have been told I need put bleed on my artwork, what is that?
Bleed is where colour or information goes right to the edge of a page, and for printing it is set up to extend over the guillotine cut lines.
The purpose of having bleed is to ensure that anything designed to print right to the edge of the page will extend right to the edge after trimming.
How can I send you my files?
We accept most forms of media: CD-R, CD-RW, DVD, or email (preferably no more than 20mb)
I want something designed - what do I need to do?
Ideally, call and make a time to see us. Bring along any sketches, images, advertisements etc that show what you are wanting, or that has a look you like. The more information and ideas you can share with us, the easier it will be to create you a great design. If you have particular images, photos or drawings, supplying them in a good resolution in digital format is preferred, or bring in the originals for us to scan/photograph. If you are giving us a design brief by email or telephone, please give us as much info as you can to ensure we get it right.
I have a new company and I need a logo designed, can you do this?
Yes, we have an extensive portfolio of logos we have designed. Check out our portfolio of logos and other work here.
